‘TEKTONIK’ is Titus Schade’s first solo exhibition outside Germany. Through his work, the artist tackles painting and its visual space. Employing sets that resemble backstage areas, he creates spaces somewhere between models and scenography, devising a wide range of architectural structures and accessories that immerse the viewer in a private world. Schade does not seek to replicate reality, but uses a series of surrogate elements that he reorganises in his self-contained environments. His forms and structures, usually of an architectural nature, are subjected to baroque lighting set-ups. In his work, classical landscapes abut geometric forms whose timelessness allows for a universal reading.

Titus Schade (1984, Leipzig) is a major figure of the young German painting scene who studied under Neo Rauch, among others, at the "Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst" in Leipzig. He lives and works in Leipzig (D). His work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions in Germany. He is represented by Galerie EIGEN + ART Leipzig/Berlin.
