Inspired by the Dis-placed exhibition and guided by the question ‘What sounds would you choose to illustrate your story?’, Weini, an Eritrean woman seeking asylum, shares her innermost thoughts while guiding us through the songs of one of her country's musical legend, Yemane Barya.
In collaboration with musician and composer Eric G. Foy, she creates an intimate and compelling auditory journey, in which each track becomes a gateway to her experiences, illustrating her journey, her struggles and her hopes. The listener, for his part, has only to let himself be carried along and encounter all the humanity behind the voice that guides him.
